Clinical Workflow & System Performance

The OrganBank platform changes not just how an organ is preserved, but how the entire transplant process operates. Extended preservation and continuous organ visibility create room for more deliberate, coordinated decision-making at every stage.

From Emergency Execution to Scheduled Operations

Extended preservation shifts transplantation from urgent, after-hours activation to planned surgical scheduling, reducing team disruption and operational burden across transplant centers.

From Fragmented Logistics to Continuous System Flow

A single integrated preservation environment maintains the organ throughout transport, reducing handoffs and logistical complexity. The pathway from procurement to transplant becomes more stable and predictable.

Expanding Matching Efficiency and Access

With days rather than hours, transplant teams can evaluate a broader recipient pool and prioritize best-fit matches based on clinical need and biological compatibility rather than time and geography.

More Organs Reaching More Patients

When coordination, logistics, and matching improve together, more organs progress from donation to transplant. Preclinical data showing 0% delayed graft function suggests the platform supports not just more transplants, but better ones.

Why Cold Preservation Falls Short

Cold preservation slowed cellular metabolism and made organ transplantation scalable. It remains the backbone of preservation worldwide and is a genuine achievement of transplant medicine.
But slowing metabolism is not the same as preserving biology.
Without oxygen delivery, injury continues beneath the surface. Cooling delays these processes, but it does not stop them.

Cold preservation slows injury.

It does not stop it.

The Three Points of Preservation Injury

Donor death is unavoidable.
Cold ischemia and rewarming are avoidable.

Cold preservation cannot prevent
the two
avoidable phases of preservation injury.

Normothermic Perfusion: Biology Without Simplicity

Warm perfusion maintains metabolic activity and provides physiologic insight.
But it requires donated blood, greater cost, and significant operational complexity.
It solves a biological challenge by introducing a logistical one.

Why Room Temperature Changes the Equation

Room-temperature preservation combines the biological advantages of sustained metabolic activity with the operational simplicity of a blood-free preservation system. It avoids prolonged cold ischemia and rewarming injury while eliminating the complexity, cost, and logistical barriers that constrain broader adoption of normothermic systems.

Active metabolism  •  Less avoidable injury  •  Operational simplicity.

What Metabolic Activity Enables

Most preservation approaches slow the organ down to buy time.

The OrganBank platform maintains the kidney as a metabolically active organ—circulating, oxygenating, and metabolizing—throughout the preservation window.

Maintaining active biology enables:

  • Extended preservation
More time for transport, matching, and surgical planning.

  • Continuous physiologic insight
Ongoing information about organ condition throughout preservation.

  • More informed decisions
Assessment informed by organ data—not just time and location.

What More Time Makes Possible

Preclinical studies have demonstrated preservation approaching XX hours—nearly X times the current preservation standard.

That extended window has the potential to expand recipient matching, increase transport flexibility, and support more coordinated surgical planning—creating the opportunity for more transplants and improved patient outcomes.

Confidence Before the Operating Room

Because the kidney remains metabolically active, the system continuously generates physiologic information throughout preservation.

Teams can assess organ condition across the entire journey—not only at procurement and arrival—supporting more informed decisions before transplantation.

If we add this page we could have a dedicated location for doctors - decisions, work life balance, planned procedures, no more firedrills, etc etc.

Preclinical Evidence: Supporting Early Graft Function

In a preclinical porcine auto-transplant model conducted at Duke University, kidneys preserved using the OrganBank system demonstrated reduced delayed graft function compared with kidneys preserved using standard hypothermic machine perfusion.

Delayed graft function has been associated with increased early post-transplant complications and may negatively influence long-term graft performance.

A Platform Designed to Scale

The OrganBank system represents a new approach to organ preservation: one built to fit within established transplant workflows and scale across the transplant ecosystem. The platform provides a foundation for future expansion beyond kidney transplantation, including additional organs and applications.
Keeping more paths to transplant open.
