Uniting expertise across the transplant system

BMI OrganBank was built on the belief that the transplant system is ready for better infrastructure, and no single institution can build it alone.

BMI OrganBank is advancing organ preservation research in collaboration with clinical and scientific partners, with a focus on validation and measurable impact. These partnerships bring together transplant surgeons, researchers, and clinical teams across the country working on the science of extended preservation, from recovery through transplant.

A separate, national staffing partnership extends BMI OrganBank's reach into organ procurement organizations across the country, supporting the clinical and logistical work that surrounds every recovery.

Rooted in North Carolina's research corridor

BMI OrganBank is anchored in North Carolina, home to one of the country's most concentrated biomedical research corridors. Our R&D is based at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Winston-Salem, part of the Piedmont Triad, with academic partners Duke University and UNC nearby in the Research Triangle. Together, this network of academic, clinical, and translational infrastructure accelerates discovery and its path into practice.
