Preservation Science

The central challenge of preservation is not simply slowing injury—it is sustaining the biology that keeps an organ viable.

Why Room Temperature?

Current preservation approaches require trade-offs.

Cold

Slows metabolism, but injury continues

Warm

Restores metabolic activity. But adds complexity

Room Temperature

A different approach.

The upside of cold and warm.

The burden of neither.

Cold Perfusion
Cold slows injury. It does not stop it.
Room Temperature
It avoids the injury of cold without the cost and complexity of warm.
Warm Perfusion
It solves a biological problem by introducing a logistical one.

The Three Points of Preservation Injury

Donor death is unavoidable.
Cold ischemia and rewarming are avoidable.

Cold preservation cannot prevent
the two
avoidable phases of preservation injury,
but room temperature can.

Our Solution

Active metabolism  •  Minimize rewarming injury  •  Operational simplicity

What Metabolic Activity Enables

Cold preservation approaches slow the organ's metabolism.

The OrganBank platform maintains the kidney in a metabolically active state by providing oxygen, nutrients, and metabolites throughout the preservation window.

Extended
Preservation

More time for transport, matching, and surgical planning.

Viability
Assessment

Real-time organ viability data throughout preservation.

Informed Clinical
Decision Making

Based on organ viability data, not just donor history.

Preclinical Evidence: Supporting Early Graft Function

In a preclinical porcine auto-transplant model conducted at Duke University, kidneys preserved using the OrganBank system demonstrated reduced delayed graft function compared with kidneys preserved using standard hypothermic machine perfusion.

Delayed graft function has been associated with increased early post-transplant complications and may negatively influence long-term graft performance.

Platform Built for This Moment

The OrganBank system was designed to address the trade-offs that have defined organ preservation for decades. Room temperature, blood-free, and metabolically active, built to fit within established transplant workflows while opening new possibilities for time, reach, and clinical confidence.

Expanding what’s possible in kidney transplantation

Keeping more paths to transplant open.

Blood-free perfusate

Proprietary acellular perfusate designed to support metabolically active preservation—enabling oxygen delivery, nutrient support, and management of oxidative stress without the need for donor-matched blood.

Real-time visibility across the journey

Tracks organ status and location during preservation and transport, supporting coordination and assessment across teams.

Portable perfusion. Continuous preservation.

Automated, portable device designed to maintain kidneys in a metabolically active state during preservation and transport.
Operates at room temperature without donor-matched blood.
