BMI OrganBank Receives 2026 Luis Villalobos Award

Angel Capital Association recognizes innovation in organ preservation and transplantation.

BMI OrganBank is proud to announce that it has received the 2026 Luis Villalobos Award for Innovation in Life Sciences, presented by the Angel Capital Association (ACA) during the 2026 Summit of Angel Investing. The Luis Villalobos Award recognizes outstanding early-stage companies nominated by ACA member organizations for their innovation, leadership, and potential to create meaningful impact. BMI OrganBank was nominated by Golden Seeds, a leading angel investment organization dedicated to supporting women-led companies.

The recognition highlights BMI OrganBank’s commitment to advancing organ preservation technologies designed to improve organ assessment, support more informed transplant decision-making, and expand access to organ transplantation.

“Winning the Luis Villalobos Award reflects the extraordinary team behind BMI OrganBank and the early support from angel investors who made it possible to turn our vision into reality,” said Carrie DiMarzio, co-founder and chief executive officer of BMI OrganBank. “Their belief in our approach helped us build the foundation to expand access to life-saving organ transplants. We are honored to receive this recognition from the Angel Capital Association and grateful to Golden Seeds for its nomination and continued support.”

The Angel Capital Association is the world’s largest association of angel investors, representing organizations that invest in and support innovative early-stage companies. The Luis Villalobos Award honors companies whose technologies exemplify entrepreneurial excellence and recognizes the lasting legacy of Luis Villalobos, a pioneer in angel investing and founder of Tech Coast Angels.

BMI OrganBank congratulates fellow 2026 award recipient Kind Designs, recognized in the Technology category, and extends its appreciation to the Angel Capital Association, Golden Seeds, and the many clinicians, researchers, collaborators, and investors who continue to support the company’s mission to advance organ transplantation.
