Dr. Gerry Lake-Bakaar from BioMedInnovations Presents Findings at the Digestive Disease Week® 2021

BioMedInnovations announced the presentation of research at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2021, a major international gathering of physicians, researchers, and industry professionals working across gastrointestinal medicine.

Dr. Gerry Lake-Bakaar, a member of the BioMedInnovations Medical & Scientific Advisory Board, presented findings from a drug study utilizing the company’s CaVESWave® organ and tissue perfusion platform.

The work highlighted the use of ex vivo organ and tissue perfusion as a research platform, providing a controlled environment in which researchers can investigate therapeutic approaches outside the body. This application of perfusion technology extends beyond organ preservation and transplantation, supporting research designed to better understand how organs and tissues respond to potential therapies.

The presentation at DDW 2021 reflected BioMedInnovations’ broader work in perfusion technology and its application across organ preservation, translational research, and therapeutic development.

Keeping more paths to transplant open.

Blood-free perfusate

Proprietary acellular perfusate designed to support metabolically active preservation—enabling oxygen delivery, nutrient support, and management of oxidative stress without the need for donor-matched blood.

Real-time visibility across the journey

Tracks organ status and location during preservation and transport, supporting coordination and assessment across teams.

Portable perfusion. Continuous preservation.

Automated, portable device designed to maintain kidneys in a metabolically active state during preservation and transport.
Operates at room temperature without donor-matched blood.
